Steve
Steve is a senior designer for Juice Clothing Australia.
He has successfully turned his mania for skating into
a career designing cool streetwear for other dudes.

Q: How did you get started?

A: I studied Graphic Design at Sydney Graphic College. In our 2nd year we were required to get one day a week work experience as part of the course. I was lucky enough that the place I was working for offered me a job when I graduated.

Q: What is your favourite part of the job?

A: I think it is getting the finished product back after only seeing it on your computer screen for so long.

Q: What is the biggest challenge you have faced?

A: Continually coming up with new ideas can be hard work, its difficult to keep your mind fresh and motivated sometimes.

Q: Where do you hope to be in 5 years time?

A: Art Directing a magazine title and showing my art in international galleries.

Q: Who are your role models?

A: I don't really have design role models. No one person influences me. I just get excited by any person who is doing something creative, whether it be painting, fashion design or music. Anyone who gets my mind thinking differently is a role model.

Q: How do you define success?

A: Just doing what you enjoy and then getting paid for it is a bonus.

Q: What are your ambitions?

A: To continually challenge myself and hopefully be recognised amongst my peers as someone who is creative and different.

Q: What is your inspiration?

A: Music inspires me a lot. Just listening to a song will flood my mind with new ideas.

Q: What is your idea of the perfect day at work?

A: Getting all my samples back and they are correct. Having my dog with me asleep next to my desk.

Q: What advice do you have for guys out there who are starting out?

A: Just be yourself and don't be restricted by anything. I think if you are genuinely passionate about your work, it will show through. The hardest thing is having the guts to put a different idea on the table, not knowing how it will be received by the public or a client.
